<p”>Darrick Weeks, Marine Credit Union’s CEO, is passionate about sharing the stories of credit unions across the country to demonstrate how they positively impact people’s lives.
“At Marine Credit Union, we’re committed to making a lasting impact in the communities we serve,” said Weeks. “This collaborative effort gives us the opportunity to bring Marine’s story—and the stories of credit unions across the nation—to a broader audience. We’ve always known that credit unions are the best-kept secret in the financial industry, and now we’re changing that.”
In every community where Marine operates, we’ve seen firsthand how credit unions can make a difference, offering personalized financial solutions and giving people the tools they need to thrive—no matter their financial background.
Shining a Light on the Credit Union Difference
Through this collaboration, Marine Credit Union and its partners in COPRA aim to educate the public on the unique, community-first mission of credit unions. The key points of focus for this campaign include:
- Community-First Focus: Credit unions are rooted in their communities, reinvesting in local economies and supporting local causes.
- Solving Real Problems: Each local branch offers tailored banking solutions for their specific geographic and demographical regions, including underserved populations.
- More Than Money: Credit unions support community and local educational institutions, recreational programs, civic initiatives, philanthropic support of local non-profits and emergency causes.
- Transparency: Credit unions don’t rely on hidden fees or complex terms, offering practical financial solutions and consultation opportunities to best identify which products and tools best fit a member’s needs.
“Our mission isn’t about profits; it’s about people,” said Weeks. “When credit unions unite, as we are through COPRA, we prove that by working together, we can have an even greater impact.”
A Collective Effort for a Greater Good
Through national media outreach, social media campaigns, thought leadership and community events, COPRA’s mission is to raise awareness of the collective impact of credit unions. With more credit unions expected to join in the coming months, this initiative marks a significant step in making credit unions the go-to financial institutions for individuals seeking trustworthy, community-focused solutions.
For Marine Credit Union, this collaboration strengthens our resolve to continue putting people first and ensuring that no one’s financial situation is a barrier to achieving their dreams.
