Marine Credit Union Supports UW-Eau Claire Campus Harvest Food Pantry and Student Food Recovery Program

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — June 9, 2026 — Marine Credit Union (MCU) is extending our commitment to addressing food insecurity in western Wisconsin through ongoing support of the Campus Harvest Food Pantry at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire.

MCU contributed $2,000 to the Campus Harvest Food Pantry in 2026 and has made an additional $2,000 commitment for 2027 to provide students with access to supplemental food assistance and essential household items.

MCU provided an additional $1,500 contribution specifically supporting the pantry’s Food Recovery Program in 2026. The Food Recovery Program helps redirect unused food to students facing food insecurity and provides more than 1,000 meals annually.

“Food insecurity is something many students navigate while trying to focus on their education, work and future goals,” said MCU President and CEO, Tom Knothe. “Campus Harvest is meeting students where they are with dignity and practical support, and we’re proud to invest in a resource that helps reduce students’ worries about their next meal.”

Since opening in 2014, the Campus Harvest Food Pantry has supported UW-Eau Claire students who self-identify as needing supplemental food assistance. In the academic year 2024-25, 47% of UW-Eau Claire students indicated experiencing some level of food insecurity.

The pantry offers students access to non-perishable and perishable food items—including frozen meats and fresh produce—as well as hygiene items and basic cooking supplies. Students are welcome to utilize the pantry once each week.

MCU’s support reflects our commitment to strengthening the communities we serve through local partnerships focused on wellbeing, opportunity and long-term stability.

“At MCU, community support starts by listening and understanding where needs exist,” said Knothe. “Campus Harvest is providing an essential service for students, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support their work and the impact they’re making every day.”

Campus Harvest estimates that every $1 donated can be stretched into approximately $10 worth of food and resources for students in need. The pantry also offers a program providing free on-campus meals for students facing economic uncertainty, unemployment, inequality, violence or other challenges.
