FAQs
No, there is no fee for My Prize Checking. If you don’t meet all the activity requirements in a month, you won’t be paid dividends that month. You will be eligible to earn dividends again the following month.
No, there is no dollar minimum for debit card transactions. Make at least 15 debit card purchases of any dollar amount to qualify to earn dividends. Debit card transactions processed by merchants and received by The Credit Union as Point of Sale (POS) transactions are included. Note that ATM transactions and debit card transactions processed by merchants and received by The Credit Union as ATM transactions are not included.
Note: Eligible transactions must post and clear by 5pm on the last day of the month to qualify for dividends.
You can track your progress toward earning dividends with the My Prize Rewards Tracker in Digital Banking. Just log in to digital banking to see exactly where you are on your way to earning dividends each month. The tracker shows your debit card transactions, direct deposit amounts, and enrollment in eStatements.
Note: You must complete all 3 requirements each month to earn dividends, and all 15 debit card transactions must post and clear by 5pm of the last day of the month.
You have three options to switch your existing checking account to My Prize Checking:
- Send a secure message in digital banking requesting to change your checking account type,
- Call the contact center and request to change your checking account type, or
- Visit a branch and a member service representative can help you make the switch.
The changes to your account will occur within 24-48 hours.
Yes, you can open an account with Marine Credit Union online. Online account opening is quick and easy with just 3 simple steps:
- Choose the My Prize checking account. There are no hoops to jump through.
- Tell us a little about yourself. We’ll ask some questions about who you are and where you live. You’ll also have the option to add someone to your account.
- Fund your account. You can make your first deposit using a debit card, credit card, or a transfer from another bank account.
When you become a member of MCU you also become an owner. As an owner, you must have a membership share account (savings account) with a balance of at least $5.
There is no minimum balance required in the checking account.
When opening your account, you have the choice to pick it up at your local branch or have your debit card mailed to you. Please make sure to deposit money into your checking account prior to using your debit card. We recommend $20 to get started. 1 Offer available to non-Marine Credit Union members and existing Marine Credit Union members who do not currently have a checking account. Members who have accounts closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance within the last three years are not eligible. You can receive only one new checking account opening-related bonus. To receive the bonus: 1) Open a new My Prize Checking account, which is subject to approval, beginning July 7, 2024 and ending July 13, 2024; AND 2) Make 15 or more PIN and/or signature point-of-sale transactions using your Marine Credit Union Mastercard® debit card each of the following months: August, September and October 2024. After you have completed all the above requirements, we’ll deposit the $77 bonus in your new account by November 15, 2024.
