May 24, 2023

Thank you for your membership with Marine Credit Union. Last week we held our annual member meeting, and I’d like to take the opportunity to share with you some updates at Marine and how we are serving our more than 78,000 members.

First and foremost, your credit union remains strong and positioned well for future success, as we have since 1931. Our full 2022 annual report is available for viewing here.

Our employees are as committed as ever to delivering our mission of advancing people’s lives every day. It’s what sets Marine Credit Union apart from the sea of competitors in the financial services world today.

As a credit union, we offer a different perspective on financial services because we aren’t owned by shareholders or private entities. Our sole focus is on you — our member owners.

Highlights from 2022:

  • We implemented a Voice of the Member program to ensure we are continually improving our member experience, products and services.
  • As a result of your feedback, we expanded branch lobby and drive-thru hours.
  • We significantly increased our lending support in our communities, and our branches, supported by a new automated loan decision tool to say “yes” to our members faster and more frequently.
  • We strengthened relationships with members by launching our first-ever proactive loan retention program that lowers their interest rate and payments for on time loan repayment.
  • We maintained our laser focus on our employee experience and well-being – and we were proudly certified as a Great Place to Work™.

Commitment to our communities

Over the last year our employees continued our long-lasting commitment to our communities by donating their time and money to help worthy causes through the Marine Credit Union Foundation. In 2022 we celebrated our first annual Marine Credit Union Day of Service on October 10. Marine Credit Union offices were closed while employees volunteered in communities throughout our footprint to help enrich the lives of others.

The Marine Credit Union Foundation continues to support local community organizations, along with administering Finding Home – a free financial education program to help credit-challenged borrowers down the path to home ownership. Since inception, the Marine Credit Union Foundation has given over $1.5 million back to our communities with much of the funding coming directly from employee donations.

Thank you for your ongoing support

On behalf of the Board of Directors and our 450 team members, I want to personally say thank you for your continued support, and the trust you place in us! I am humbled and honored to be a part of Marine Credit Union, and on this journey with you.
