Our Educational Commitment
Investing in Our Friends and Neighbors
Marine Credit Union believes in education. It shows in our approach to serving people’s financial needs, as we work one-to-one with them and share our knowledge. Our goal is to help all our members become smarter consumers with a more secure financial future.
Much of this website is devoted to financial education. We’re presenting these courses to fill in knowledge gaps for adults who want to manage their money better. They are also useful for young people who want to begin their financial lives with more understanding and confidence.
We also make personal financial counseling available by phone, e-mail or online chat for any Marine Credit Union member, at no charge.
Investing in Students
Marine’s Ranger Credit Union, located in La Crosse’s Logan High School, is a student-run financial institution housed within the school. The Marine staffer who oversees operations begins building a relationship with students as they enter 9th grade through a freshman mentoring program. She collaborates with faculty on financial literacy like how to balance a checkbook and workplace skills such as interviewing, sales and leadership. An apprenticeship program brings in students who spend two years working in Ranger Credit Union. They earn classroom credits and a paycheck while receiving on the job training and have additional opportunities at Marine’s other full service branches.
Marine Credit Union Scholarship Programs
At Marine Credit Union, we are committed to providing college financial aid for members and/or their children. We offer our MCU Scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 and provide five of these scholarships, open to Marine Credit Union members. We also offer a $1,000 Ranger Scholarship to a current student at Logan High School where we have a MCU branch.
Recipients of the 2017 scholarships will be announced by June 1.
